If you have never studied Daniel 2 before than you are in for an amazing proof of the validity of the Bible. This validity comes from an understanding that the Bible includes prophecy of events that were future to the time they were written. If you have studied Daniel 2 before you are in for a brain exercise to re-examine the Word of God in a systematic will the will challenge the assumptions that we hold of this amazing prophetic passage. Either way, be prayerful, have your  notebook ready and get into a comfortable work place with a big glass of water, this may get intense.

Daniel’s Prophecies: Fulfilled and Fulfilling Chart

First we will establish some basic principle understanding.

Daniel’s prophecies are meant for the last days.

“As we near the close of this world’s history, the prophecies recorded by Daniel demand our special attention, as they relate to the very time in which we are living. With them should be linked the teachings of the last book of the New Testament Scriptures. Satan has led many to believe that the prophetic portions of the writings of Daniel and of John the revelator cannot be understood. But the promise is plain that special blessing will accompany the study of these prophecies. “The wise shall understand” (verse 10), was spoken of the visions of Daniel that were to be unsealed in the latter days; and of the revelation that Christ gave to His servant John for the guidance of God’s people all through the centuries, the promise is, “Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein.” Revelation 1:3. {PK 547.2}”

Prophecy is figurative events that can be depicted on a line.

“Historical events, showing the direct fulfillment of prophecy, were set before the people, and the prophecy was seen to be a figurative delineation of events leading down to the close of this earth’s history. The scenes connected with the working of the man of sin are the last features plainly revealed in this earth’s history.”{2SM 102.1}

Daniel’s Last Day Message Sealed Up

“The message of salvation has been preached in all ages; but this message is a part of the gospel which could be proclaimed only in the last days, for only then would it be true that the hour of judgment had come. The prophecies present a succession of events leading down to the opening of the judgment. This is especially true of the book of Daniel. But that part of his prophecy which related to the last days, Daniel was bidden to close up and seal “to the time of the end.” [Daniel 12:9] Not till we reach this time could a message concerning the judgment be proclaimed, based on the fulfillment of these prophecies. But at the time of the end, says the prophet, “many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.” Daniel 12:4. “{GC 355.3}

Sealing Up the Bible

“The scribes and Pharisees professed to explain the Scriptures, but they explained them in accordance with their own ideas and traditions. Their customs and maxims became more and more exacting. In its spiritual sense, the sacred Word became to the people as a sealed book, closed to their comprehension.” {ST, May 17, 1905 par. 2}

The dream of Daniel 2 is covers the last days.

Daniel 2:29   As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came [into thy mind] upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter: and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass.

Daniel 2:45   Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream [is] certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.

New Truths Revealed

Many Gems Yet to Be Discovered.–New light will ever be revealed on the word of God to him who is in living connection with the Sun of Righteousness. Let no one come to the conclusion that there is no more truth to be revealed. The diligent, prayerful seeker for truth will find precious rays of light yet to shine forth from the word of God. Many gems are yet scattered that are to be gathered together to become the property of the remnant people of God.–Counsels on Sabbath School Work, p. 34. (1892.)  {CW 35.1}

Investigation of Doctrine.–There is no excuse for anyone in taking the position that there is no more truth to be revealed, and that all our expositions of Scripture are without an error. The fact that certain doctrines have been held as truth for many years by our people, is not a proof that our ideas are infallible. Age will not make error into truth, and truth can afford to be fair. No true doctrine will lose anything by close investigation.  {CW 35.2}

We are living in perilous times, and it does not become us to accept everything claimed to be truth without examining it thoroughly; neither can we afford to reject anything that bears the fruits of the Spirit of God; but we should be teachable, meek and lowly of heart. There are those who oppose everything that is not in accordance with their own ideas, and by so doing they endanger their eternal interest as verily as did the Jewish nation in their rejection of Christ.  {CW 35.3}

The Lord designs that our opinions shall be put to the test, that we may see the necessity of closely examining the living oracles to see whether or not we are in the faith. Many who claim to believe the truth have settled down at their ease, saying, “I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing.” –Review and Herald, December 20, 1892.  {CW 36.1}

THE DREAM

2:31   Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness [was] excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof [was] terrible.

2:32   This image’s head [was] of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass,

2:33   His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.

2:34   Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet [that were] of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.

2:35   Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.

The Interpretation

Daniel 2:36 “This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king.”

“Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory. And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.”

Daniel 2:39 Metals represent kingdoms through time

“And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.”

Daniel 5:28 Kingdom of Silver Medes & Persians

“PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.”

“The ram which thou sawest having [two] horns [are] the kings of Media and Persia. And the rough goat [is] the king of Grecia: and the great horn that [is] between his eyes [is] the first king.”

“And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.”

Daniel 11:20,22 “Then shall stand up in his estate a raiser of taxes [in] the glory of the kingdom: but within few days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle. And with the arms of a flood shall they be overflown from before him, and shall be broken; yea, also the prince of the covenant.”

John 11:48 Pagan Rome had rulership over the nations.

“If we let him thus alone, all [men] will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation.”

But the fourth kingdom also breaks and bruise – as iron breaketh all these.

Daniel 7

Daniel 7:2 Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea.

Daniel 7:4 Lion  “ The first [was] like a lion, and had eagle’s wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man’s heart was given to it.”

Daniel 7:5 Bear “ And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and [it had] three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.”

Daniel 7:6 Leopard “After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.”

Daniel 7:7 Fourth beast has iron teeth break in peices and stamped the residue “ After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it [was] diverse from all the beasts that [were] before it; and it had ten horns.”

This fourth beast has 10 horns – from the ten horns comes us a little horn in Daniel 7:8 “  I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn [were] eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.”

Note that even though it comes up in the fourth kingdom it breaks of three horns and it sees and speaks.

Remember Daniel and Revelation are one, they interpret each other Daniel is looking forward into prophecy but in first section of Revelation 13 John is looking back into history.

Revelation 13:1”And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.”

Remember this beast like the one is Daniel 7 rises out of the sea or a populated area (Revelation 17:5).

Revelation 13:2 “And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as [the feet] of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.”

The beast has the ten horns but seven heads, it is like a leopard, bear and lion, in that order. This is precisely what Daniel saw in Daniel 7; but in reverse.

The dragon which gave this beast its power is described in Revelation 12:3-5 “And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.  And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.  And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and [to] his throne.”

Revelation 19:11-16 decribes the one who “rules with the rod of iron”.  “And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.  His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.  And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.  And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.  And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

If you have never read any part of the Bible, you may question who this is (See John 1: the word of God is Jesus). For everyone else this is obviously Jesus as King.

Therefore Revelation12:3-5 is describing the dragon trying to devourer Jesus before He was born. Revelation 12:9 says “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” But during the time of Christ’s birth Satan did not come from heaven an literally  try to eat the baby. But Matthew chapter 2 records that Herod the official of Rome tried to destroy Jesus when He was born. Therefore Revelation 12 is speaking about the greater story of conflict between Jesus and Satan but also the local experience of the church and Jesus’ life on earth.

We can see that the dragon in a first sense is the devil but in a secondary sense was the power of pagan Rome. When we read Revelation 13:2 again; ‘“And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as [the feet] of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.” It is Pagan Rome who gave the beast his power, seat and great authority.

Who was the successor of Pagan Rome which was given the power, seat and authority? History tells us that it is Papal Rome.

Papal Rome received the last of the three by 538, at that time it had supreme rulership over Rome.

We will come back to Revelation 13:3 in a second.

Revelation 13:4 says “And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who [is] like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?”  This makes it clear that the beast is a religious power.

Revelation 13:5-7 “And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.  And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.  And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.”

42 months is equal to 1260 days. In this case prophetic days. In prophecy a day equals a year (see Num 14:34; Eze 4:6).

This is a parallels Daniel 7:25 “And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.”

A time being a year plus two times being two years plus a half a time being six months equals, 3.5 years which is also equal to 1260 days or prophetic years.

Revelation 13:3 says “And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.”

From 538 to 1798 represents the time period of time, times and dividing of time or the 1260 days or the 3.5 years or the 42 months the Bible so often speaks about. In 1798 the Pope is taken captive by the french general Berthier and its dominion over the world was brought to an end.

Revelation 13:11 shows that after this composite beast’s domion is taken away that another beast comes on the scene. “And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.” This beast is different becasue it does not come out of the sea but out oof the earth around the time the composite beast or Papal Rome has it’s power taken away.

“And he had two horns like a lamb.” The lamb-like horns indicate youth, innocence, and gentleness, fitly representing the character of the United States when presented to the prophet as “coming up” in 1798. The Christian exiles who first fled to America, sought an asylum from royal oppression and priestly intolerance, and they determined to establish a government upon the broad foundation of civil and religious liberty. The Declaration of Independence sets forth the great truth that “all men are created equal,” and endowed with the inalienable right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” And the Constitution guarantees to the people the right of self-government, providing that representatives elected by the popular vote shall enact and administer the laws. Freedom of religious faith was also granted, every man being permitted to worship God according to the dictates of his conscience. Republicanism and Protestantism became the fundamental principles of the nation. These principles are the secret of its power and prosperity. The oppressed and down-trodden throughout Christendom have turned to this land with interest and hope. Millions have sought its shores, and the United States has risen to a place among the most powerful nations of the earth.” Great Controversy page 441.

Let’s recap!

Four world kingdoms but the forth has two phases dipicted in Daniel 2. Babylon, Medeo Persia, Greece, Pagan and Papal Rome. Then in Revelation 13 we have 2 beast one that is in power for 1260 years, then the lamblike beast representing Papal Rome than The United States of America.

Let’s go back to Daniel 2 and see how Daniel and Revelation interpret each other.

Daniel 2:41 “And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.”

The feet are one kingdom where the iron and Potter’s clay are divided.

What does Potter’s clay represent?

Isaiah 64:8 “But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.”

Jeremiah 18:1-6 “The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.  Then I went down to the potter’s house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.  And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.  Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,  O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.

So Potter’s Clay represents the Church of the Living God.

What does the Bible say the Iron is?

Revelation 2:27 “And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.”

Revelation 12:5 “And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.”

So the Iron represents civil power.

Remember that the feet are one kingdom where the iron and Potter’s clay are divided. So the feet represent a time where church and state are divided. There was a beast in Revelation 13 that had a division of church and state it is the USA. There is church in the seven churches in which nothing bad was said about them, this is the church of Philadelphia in Revelation 3. We see this more in Revelation 17.

What about mire? In Daniel 2:41 the iron and potter’sclay are divided but by the end the iron and clay are mixing and the clay is now miry?

Daniel 2:41 “And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.”

Ezekiel 41:11 “But the miry places thereof and the marishes thereof shall not be healed; they shall be given to salt. “

Psalms 40:2 “He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.”

2 Peter 2:22 “But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.”

Daniel 2:42 “And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken. “

Iron=civil power

miry clay= broken church power

Daniel 2:43 “And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay. “

What is the seed? We find that there is a seed of God and a seed of the serpent.

Seed of God

1 John 3: 9,10 “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.”

1 Peter 1:23 “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.”

Those with the seed of God (the Word of God) are children of God. Those without the seed of God are children of the devil. The division of these two groups is a theme through the Bible, starting in Genesis and going to Revelation.

Genesis 3:15 “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”

Revelation 12:17 “And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”

Iron and Clay–Mingled Church Craft and State Craft

“We have come to a time when God’s sacred work is represented by the feet of the image in which the iron was mixed with the miry clay. God has a people, a chosen people, whose discernment must be sanctified, who must not become unholy by laying upon the foundation wood, hay, and stubble. Every soul who is loyal to the commandments of God will see that the distinguishing feature of our faith is the seventh day Sabbath. If the government would honor the Sabbath as God has commanded, it would stand in the strength of God and in defense of the faith once delivered to the saints. But statesmen will uphold the spurious Sabbath, and will mingle their religious faith with the observance of this child of the Papacy, placing it above the Sabbath which the Lord has sanctified and blessed, setting it apart for man to keep holy, as a sign between Him and His people to a thousand generations. The mingling of church craft and state craft is represented by the iron and the clay. This union is weakening all the power of the churches. This investing the church with the power of the state will bring evil results. Men have almost passed the point of God’s forbearance. They have invested their strength in politics, and have united with the papacy. But the time will come when God will punish those who have made void His law, and their evil work will recoil upon themselves. Ms 63, 1899, pp. 12, 13. (Untitled Manuscript, April 22, 1899.)

Revelation and Daniel both show that America will be a leader in the last days. A power that has a division of Church and State but that will change and Church and State will be allowed to mix together. This mixing will work to observe Sunday Worship and will help the Papal Power come back into power.

Revelation 13:11-14 “And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.  And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.  And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,  and deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

Back to Daniel 2

Daniel 2:43 “And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.”

What does the Bible show that cleaving represents?

Genesis 2:24 “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”

Marriage which was instituted by God was defined as cleaving. Israel was to cleave to God or be married to Him. The Bible also translates the word to cling. Revelation 17 explains this situation in greater details.

Revelation 17:1 “And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:”

1 Chronicles 5:25  tells us that a whore is a church that is involved in idolatry and other sins against God.“And they transgressed against the God of their fathers, and went a whoring after the gods of the people of the land, whom God destroyed before them.”

Jeremiah 3:6 “The LORD said also unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot.

Revelation 17:2 “With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.”

Revelation shows that all the world is involved in a fornication. A situation when a man and a woman who are not married are involved in intimate relations. This is what Daniel 2 was showing us. The Church and the State mingling their seed together, a  relationship that is not approved of by God. We read in Revelation 17 that when this happens they (the kingdom of 10) make war with Jesus and His people.

Daniel 2:42 “And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.”

We see that the toes represent a kingdom.  So after America, Daniel 2 points us to a new kingdom that is made up of 10 and made up of at least one fallen Church and States.

Revelation 17:3 “So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.”

Here is a beast with seven heads and ten horns again. Found in the wilderness. What is the wilderness?

Revelation12:5-6 “And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.  And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

The wilderness represents the 1260 years of Papal power and persecution.

Revelation 17:5 “And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.”

Revelation 17:6 “6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.”

These verses give us an idea that John is being shown this time period and he is near the end of it.

Revelation 17:8 “The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.”

This beast is the same as the first one in Revelation 13, we are told that it receives a deadly wound but then it is healed.

Revelation 13:8,12,14 “And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.”

This beast we are told in Revelation 17 goes into perdition. Paul in Thessalonians calls this power the “son of perdition”.

2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;  Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.”

This language is so close to that which Daniel used in Daniel 7 speaking about the little horn.

Revelation 17:9,10 “And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.

The seven hilled city is the Vatican in Rome.

“And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.”

Here again Daniel and Revelation interpret each other. Five nations are fallen at the time that John is seeing in vision. Daniel and Revelation showed us, Babylon, Medes and Persians, Grecia, Papal Rome and Papal Rome. One nation is in power after the papacy is given the deadly wound which is The United States of America. (Revelation 13) Then one more kingdom is to come identified in Daniel 2 and now Revelation 17.

Revelation 17:12 “And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.”

This is similar to Daniel 2:42  a (singular) kingdom made up of ten. “And [as] the toes of the feet [were] part of iron, and part of clay, [so] the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.”

Revelation 17:13 “These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.”

The Bible depicts at least two other situations that show this events.

Genesis11:1,6 “And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. And the LORD said, Behold, the people [is] one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.”

Psalms 83:5 “For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:”

When you read Genesis 10:9-12 and Psalms 83 both identify ten groups of people working together. Now based on what we understand from this study what world wide kingdom exist now that is made up of ten and is a collaboration of religions and states. This kingdom must be at least friends with the Papal power for they give their power to it.

More from Revelation 17

Revelation 17:14 “These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.”

Revelation 14:1 “And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads.”

Revelation 17:18 “And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.”

The great city is described in Revelation 16

Revelation 16:13,14,19 “And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.  For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.  And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.”

The Three-fold Union

“By the decree enforcing the institution of the papacy in violation of the law of God, our nation [the United States] will disconnect herself fully from righteousness. When Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power, when she shall reach over the abyss to clasp hands with spiritualism, when, under the influence of this threefold union, our country shall repudiate every principle of its Constitution as a Protestant and republican government, and shall make provision for the propagation of papal falsehoods and delusions, then we may know that the time has come for the marvelous working of Satan and that the end is near. “

There is a three fold union in the world. The Bible calls it Babylon. The first Babel in Genesis 11 had one language and was made up of 10 cities and disbelieved God, and choose to depend on self to ensure peace and safety. This seems to be the same situation happening again now.

“Through the two great errors, the immortality of the soul and Sunday sacredness, Satan will bring the people under his deceptions. While the former lays the foundation of spiritualism, the latter creates a bond of sympathy with Rome. The Protestants of the United States will be foremost in stretching their hands across the gulf to grasp the hand of spiritualism; they will reach over the abyss to clasp hands with the Roman power; and under the influence of this threefold union, this country will follow in the steps of Rome in trampling on the rights of conscience. . . .” Mar 190

To understand more about the Sunday movement in America that is combining with Catholics you should do further study into the Christian Coalition formally known as the First Day Alliance.

“Papists, Protestants, and worldling will alike accept the form of godliness without the power, and they will see in this union a grand movement for the conversion of the world and the ushering in of the long-expected millennium.”

We know from the Bible who this is about; Papist represent Catholics, protestants represent America, but what about wordings. We are told in the last quote that it is spiritualism that is the third power to work with the other two. The following quote helps us understand what we should recognize the wordings with the religion of Spiritualism.

“Kings and rulers and governors have placed upon themselves the brand of antichrist, and are represented as the dragon who goes to make war with the saints–with those who keep the commandments of God and who have the faith of Jesus. In their enmity against the people of God, they show themselves guilty also of the choice of Barabbas instead of Christ.” TM 38

The dragon was represented by Pagan Rome, but was Satan we are told in Revelation 12. Those who make was with the saints are represented by the 10 kings in Revelation 17. They like Pagan Rome give their power to the Pope of Rome. This group of political rulers, who have Spiritualism as a religion and can also be known as worldings is the dragon of the last days. We can find a organization like that on the globe today.

If you have not heard about the club of Rome you may want to read up on it.  Here is a little information on it. “The Club of Rome was founded in April 1968 by Aurelio Peccei, an Italian industrialist, and Alexander King, a Scottish scientist. It was formed when a small international group of people from the fields of academia, civil society, diplomacy, and industry, met at a villa in Rome, Italy, hence the name. “ This is a picture which shows the break down of the world published in 1973.

There is a world wide organization that has adopted and adapted (with minor changes) the policy of 10 kingdoms. It is the United Nations. “Following in the wake of the failed League of Nations (1919–1946), which the United States never joined, the United Nations was established in 1945 to maintain international peace and promote cooperation in solving international economic, social and humanitarian problems. The earliest concrete plan for a new world organization was begun under the aegis of the U.S. State Department in 1939.” The United Nations is not only world wide and made of of multiple states, but also has a religious component. The religion of the UN is all religions in partnership together.

The UN is not just an organization seeking to ensure peace and safety, “there are many UN organizations and agencies that function to work on particular issues.” Such as:

You may be interested to know that there are currently 192 United Nations member states, including all fully recognized independent states apart from Vatican City (the Holy See, which holds sovereignty over the state of Vatican City, is a permanent observer). The Pope of Rome is not a part of the United Nations however, in His encyclical Letter, He “has called for reform of the United Nations and financial bodies, giving them the “real teeth” needed to tackle economic and social injustice.” He says that this reform is needed so that more power can be given to the UN, and that “there is urgent need of a true world political authority”. This authority however, must be run with morality to avoid the problems we have today.

As we have been reading Revelation 17 tells us that this kingdom made of ten horns gives it’s power onto the beast for a short time.  This scenario is not new. In the process where the Bishop of Rome became Pope of Rome, his office was given power to start the 1260 years of papal persecution, very similar events happened as to now. There was religious crisis, a moral break down of the empire and wars.

Daniel 2 concluded

Dan 2:45 “Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.”

When we get to this last kingdom of 10 powers, Daniel tells us that we at the end. Understanding what the stone is, is just as important as understanding the statue. This however is beyond the scope of our already extensive study.

Often we are asked whether or not we have children and when we answer no we are often asked when we are planning to have children. When we answer that we are not we are encouraged to have children or questioned why we have made this decision. I know that there are many people who unable to bear children, there must be many like us who have not tried to and are also bombarded with curious and sometimes unthoughtful questions. This study is not just for you (however, you may find it very helpful,) but also to those thinking of having children.

This is a very serious and can be a sensitive issue so first let me make it clear that I do like children. I very much enjoy babies. I find them to be amazing and awesome miracles. However, I realize that they do not stay babies and they are people who are in a battle for their souls as all of us are. I know that we must as with all things in our life consider the councils that God has given us in regards to beginning a lifelong joy and responsibility of child bearing in the last days.

The Blessings of Children

God planned that Adam and Eve should be fruitful, He commanded that Noah and his family replenish the earth. There are other times recorded in Holy Script when God specifically called men to have families. Hosea was called to marry a prostitute and bear children to show the children of Israel their condition. Isaiah also was called for the same purpose; Isaiah  8:18   Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me [are] for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.”

Noble traits are developed through child rearing, “the sympathy, forbearance, and love required in dealing with children would be a blessing in any household.” For “a child brought up in the fear of the Lord is a blessing.”{AH 160.3} Enoch experienced a closer relationship to God through his relationship with his son for He realized “more fully his own obligations and responsibility as a son of God.” {AH 160.5}

Children are not just a joy but also a responsibility; a precious trust. “children are committed to their parents as a precious trust, which God will one day require at their hands.” {AH 161.1} We find that as God commanded some to have children, He commanded others not to have families. Jeremiah, for instance was told in Jeremiah 16:2  “ Thou shalt not take thee a wife, neither shalt thou have sons or daughters in this place.” If you read the rest of the chapter you will find that there were very serious consequences for those who did have children.

The question is then how should each of us know if we should or should not have children?

A Time To Stop Bearing Children?

Jesus himself gave warning to times in which having children would cause difficulty. In His discourse with the disciples. Jesus laid down a line of prophecy for them and for us.

Matthew  24:19   And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

Mark  13:17   But woe to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

Luke 21:23   But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.

Here Jesus is speaking of the destruction of Jerusalem. He is also speaking about the last days. For the children of Ancient Israel are a example to our own time. The events surrounding Jesus’ first coming specifically give us council to that of His second Coming. If Jesus would point out that a time would be on the earth where a woe is pronounced on those with child and them that have small children then it is up to us to heed this council as it corresponds to our time.

In Luke 23:27-31 Jesus again speaks to the women of Israel during His passion.

“And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.

But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.

For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed [are] the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.

Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.

For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?”

“Not a few women are in the crowd that follow the Uncondemned to His cruel death. Their attention is fixed upon Jesus. Some of them have seen Him before. Some have carried to Him their sick and suffering ones. Some have themselves been healed. The story of the scenes that have taken place is related. They wonder at the hatred of the crowd toward Him for whom their own hearts are melting and ready to break. And notwithstanding the action of the maddened throng, and the angry words of the priests and rulers, these women give expression to their sympathy. As Jesus falls fainting beneath the cross, they break forth into mournful wailing.  {DA 742.4}

This was the only thing that attracted Christ’s attention. Although full of suffering, while bearing the sins of the world, He was not indifferent to the expression of grief. He looked upon these women with tender compassion. They were not believers in Him; He knew that they were not lamenting Him as one sent from God, but were moved by feelings of human pity. He did not despise their sympathy, but it awakened in His heart a deeper sympathy for them. “Daughters of Jerusalem,” He said, “weep not for Me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.” From the scene before Him, Christ looked forward to the time of Jerusalem’s destruction. In that terrible scene, many of those who were now weeping for Him were to perish with their children.  {DA 743.1}

From the fall of Jerusalem the thoughts of Jesus passed to a wider judgment. In the destruction of the impenitent city He saw a symbol of the final destruction to come upon the world. He said, “Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us. For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?” By the green tree, Jesus represented Himself, the innocent Redeemer. God suffered His wrath against transgression to fall on His beloved Son. Jesus was to be crucified for the sins of men. What suffering, then, would the sinner bear who continued in sin? All the impenitent and unbelieving would know a sorrow and misery that language would fail to express.”{DA 743.2}

Jesus was not alone in his council for the last days, of not having children to care for while you are preparing for the last hours of probation. Paul also gave in his letter to the Corinthians.

Paul’s Council 1 Corinthians 7:26-35

“I suppose therefore that this is good for the present distress, [I say], that [it is] good for a man so to be.

Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife.

But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you.

But this I say, brethren, the time [is] short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none;

And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not;

And they that use this world, as not abusing [it]: for the fashion of this world passeth away.

But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord:

But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please [his] wife.

There is difference [also] between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please [her] husband.

And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction.

As we read in Paul’s council that we are to be as we are in the time of distress. If we are married we are not to get divorced and if we are single we are not to be married. Then he makes it clear that marriage is not a sin, and one does not sin just because he is getting married. But that they will have trouble in the flesh. This trouble he does not explain at this point.

Then Paul tells us in verse 29 that when we are at the end of time that it will be important for everyone who is married to act as though they are not. Now we know that he does not mean to get a divorce because he has just made that clear in verse  10 “And unto the married I command, [yet] not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from [her] husband”, in verse 11 “But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to [her] husband: and let not the husband put away [his] wife”, and in verse 27 “Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed.”  He does explain that the unmarried man “careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord:” and the unmarried woman “careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit:”. So Paul is teaching that when time is short we should avoid extra cares and endeavor to “attend upon the Lord without distraction.”

Now there are many distractions in the world, and Paul is clear to add that he is writing not to make things hard in our marriages and lives but to make things easier for us to be faithful to God. He does qualify that his council is for when time is short. Because getting married and having children is not a sin in of itself. But if at the end of the world we are marrying and giving in marriage without seeking God’s guidance we are like the Antediluvians, which Jesus warns in Matthew 24:37 – 39. “But as the days of Noe [were], so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.  For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” Jesus shows that there is a danger of not realizing the shortness of time in which we are living. There is a danger in getting involved with things that would be normal and expected and forgetting that we are in a time of judgment. In a parable of the seed found in Matthew 13:22,  some seed fell on thorny ground. This ground represented those who hear the word but the cares of life choke the life from it. This is an important lesson taught by Jesus;  there is a way to loose salvation by just being busy. Jesus shows in His discourse with Mary and Martha (Luke 10) that there is a way to be busy even with things that are necessary, that will take from us the precious words of life for our eternal soul. Paul when speaking about being married and acting as if you are not married tells us that married individuals “careth for the things that are of the world.” Be careful that you are aware of the time in which we are living and not more of your personal relationships but God’s work for you now in your personal salvation and of the salvation of others. 1 Peter 4:7 “But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.”

How Not To Be Barren

In the Bible there are numerous places in which women who were barren prayed for children and did receive them. Being barren was a sort of curse, and God makes promises of His children not being barren. Peter uses this concept in a way that we often do not consider when He shares the precious truth of his ladder to sanctification. Found in 2 Peter 1:2-7

Promises of Peter’s Latter

2 Peter   1:8   For if these things be in you, and abound, they make [you that ye shall] neither [be] barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

There is a way to be barren of a knowledge of God. We can lack a knowledge of God and consequentially be unfruitful. Alternately, if you follow the way in which God has graciously given you have the promise of success of righteousness.

2 Peter 1:10 “Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:”

Peter gives a warning that if you fail to go the path God has placed before us all you will not be able to see the things to come. In verse 9 he writes “But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.” This is exactly what Jesus warns of the last days, in the time of Noah, they could not see what was coming even though they could see Noah building a boat and others getting ready.

As we see the signs of Christ coming thickening around us we must be careful not to get busy doing what would be normal in any other time. For the closing hours of probation and the Day of Atonement are sacred and not to be esteemed lightly. Let us always bring God into our plans and seeks His council on whatever we do. We show our faith in Him when we are willing to sacrifice our wants now as Christ did and believe that He knows what is best for us.

Council On Family Planning

When considering the size of your family:

Consider the effect on society

“There are parents who, without consideration as to whether or not they can do justice to a large family, fill their houses with these helpless little beings, who are wholly dependent upon their parents for care and instruction. . . . This is a grievous wrong, not only to the mother, but to her children and to society. . . .”  {AH 162.1}

Consider the future of your children

“Parents should always bear in mind the future good of their children. They should not be compelled to devote every hour to taxing labor in order to provide the necessaries of life.”  {AH 162.2}

Consider your economic capabilities

“Before increasing their family, they should take into consideration whether God would be glorified or dishonored by their bringing children into the world. They should seek to glorify God by their union from the first, and during every year of their married life. They should calmly consider what provision can be made for their children. They have no right to bring children into the world to be a burden to others. Have they a business that they can rely upon to sustain a family, so that they need not become a burden to others? If they have not, they commit a crime in bringing children into the world to suffer for want of proper care, food, and clothing.” {MYP 462.2}

“Those who are seriously deficient in business tact, and who are the least qualified to get along in the world, generally fill their houses with children; while men who have ability to acquire property generally have no more children than they can well provide for. Those who are not qualified to take care of themselves should not have children.” {AH 165.1}

Consider the Mother’s health

“In view of the responsibility that devolves upon parents, it should be carefully considered whether it is best to bring children into the family. Has the mother sufficient strength to care for her children? And can the father give such advantages as will rightly mold and educate the child? How little is the destiny of the child considered! The gratification of passion is the only thought, and burdens are brought upon the wife and mother which undermine her vitality and paralyze her spiritual power. In broken health and with discouraged spirits she finds herself surrounded by a little flock whom she cannot care for as she should. Lacking the instruction they should have, they grow up to dishonor God and to communicate to others the evil of their own natures, and thus an army is raised up whom Satan manages as he pleases.” {AH 162.4}

Consider the ability to educate

“God would have parents act as rational beings and live in such a manner that each child may be properly educated, that the mother may have strength and time to employ her mental powers in disciplining her little ones for the society of the angels. She should have courage to act nobly her part and to do her work in the fear and love of God, that her children may prove a blessing to the family and to society.  {AH 163.1}

The husband and father should consider all these things lest the wife and mother of his children be overtaxed and thus overwhelmed with despondency. He should see to it that the mother of his children is not placed in a position where she cannot possibly do justice to her numerous little ones, so that they have to come up without proper training.  {AH 163.2}

Parents should not increase their families any faster than they know that their children can be well cared for and educated. A child in the mother’s arms from year to year is great injustice to her. It lessens, and often destroys, social enjoyment and increases domestic wretchedness. It robs their children of that care, education, and happiness which parents should feel it their duty to bestow upon them.”  {AH 163.3}

Consider will my children be saved?

“The question to be settled by you is, “Am I raising a family of children to strengthen the influence and swell the ranks of the powers of darkness, or am I bringing up children for Christ?” {AH 163.4}

If you do not govern your children and mold their characters to meet the requirements of God, then the fewer children there are to suffer from your defective training the better it will be for you, their parents, and the better it will be for society. Unless children can be trained and disciplined from their babyhood by a wise and judicious mother who is conscientious and intelligent, and who rules her household in the fear of the Lord, molding and shaping their characters to meet the standard of righteousness, it is a sin to increase your family. God has given you reason, and He requires you to use it.  {AH 164.1}

Fathers and mothers, when you know that you are deficient in a knowledge of how to train your children for the Master, why do you not learn your lessons? Why do you continue to bring children into the world to swell the numbers in Satan’s ranks? Is God pleased with this showing? When you see that a large family will severely tax your resources, when you see that it is giving the mother her hands full of children, and that she has not time intervening between their births to do the work every mother needs to do, why do you not consider the sure result? Every child draws upon the vitality of the mother, and when fathers and mothers do not use their reason in this matter, what chance is given to parents or children to be properly disciplined? The Lord calls upon parents to consider this matter in the light of future eternal realities.”  {AH 164.2}

Consider are you better suited to be a missionary? –

“In sending missionaries to distant countries, those men should be selected who know how to economize, who have not large families, and who, realizing the shortness of time and the great work to be accomplished, will not fill their hands and houses with children, but will keep themselves as free as possible from everything that will divert their minds from their one great work. The wife, if devoted and left free to do so, can, by standing by the side of her husband, accomplish as much as he. God has blessed woman with talents to be used to His glory in bringing many sons and daughters to God; but many who might be efficient laborers are kept at home to care for their little ones.  {AH 165.3}

We want missionaries who are missionaries in the fullest sense of the word; who will put aside selfish considerations and let the cause of God come first; and who, working with an eye single to His glory, will keep themselves as minute men to go where He shall bid and to work in any capacity to spread the knowledge of the truth. Men who have wives that love and fear God and that can help them in the work are needed in the missionary field. Many who have families go out to labor, but they do not give themselves entirely to the work. Their minds are divided. Wife and children draw them from their labor and often keep them out of fields that they might enter were it not that they think they must be near their home.”{AH 166.1}

“By accepting the work of rearing children in these last days of uncertainty and peril, many place themselves in a position where they can not labor either in the canvassing field or in any other branch of the cause of God, and some lose all interest to do this. They are content with a common, low level, and assimilate to the position they have chosen. The bewitching power of Satan’s deception wrought within the human heart its evil work. Instead of candidly considering the time in which we live, and the work they might do in leading others to the truth they reason from a selfish standpoint, and follow the impulse of their own unconsecrated hearts. “(SPTb16, 17)

Special Note to Ministers

1 TImoothy 3:1-5

This [is] a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.

A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;

(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

1 Timothy 3:1-5  tells us that if you desire to minister for God that there are requirements for you. These requirements include being able to rule your household. Therefore those with children can become minister’s only if their children are in subjection to them, for “if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?” This is not to say that Ministers must have children.

For Minster’s wives there is specific counsel that “if she has no inclination or fitness to engage in missionary work outside her home, and feels it her duty to take orphan children and care for them, she may do a good work… But if the minister’s wife can herself act a part in the work of educating others, she should consecrate her powers to God as a Christian worker. She should be a true helper to her husband, assisting him in his work, improving her intellect, and helping to give the message. The way is open for humble, consecrated women, dignified by the grace of Christ, to visit those in need of help and shed light into discouraged souls. They can lift up the bowed down by praying with them and pointing them to Christ. Such should not devote their time and strength to one helpless little mortal that requires constant care and attention. They should not thus voluntarily tie their hands.” {AH 169.2}

If you already have children, pray and fast, that you might raise them aright, take comfort that with much suffering your children can be a blessing in the work.

“When properly conducted, church schools will be the means of lifting the standard of truth in the places where they are established; for children who are receiving a Christian education will be witnesses for Christ. As Jesus in the temple solved the mysteries which priests and rulers had not discerned, so in the closing work of his earth children who have been rightly educated will in their simplicity speak words which will be an astonishment to men who now talk of “higher education.” As the children sang in the temple courts, “Hosanna; Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord,” so in these last days children’s voices will be raised to give the last message of warning to a perishing world. When heavenly intelligences see that men are no longer permitted to present the truth, the Spirit of God will come upon the children, and they will do a work in the proclamation of the truth which the older workers cannot do, because their way will be hedged up.”(PH048, 29)
